Block 2, Latin 1

Job 1:  ALL STUDENTS  review these sentences taken from the story ānulus Aegyptius, CLC 10 page 172. You may refer to your earlier translation sheet and/or the story and vocabulary help from the book.

"ānulus antīquus est," inquit. "servus in pyramide ānulum invēnit."

"euge!" inquit Poppaea. "ānulus Aegyptius est fēlicissimus."

"pecūniam nōn habeō," inquit, "quod Neptūnus nāvem meam dēlēvit."

caupō  incendium  spectābat.  ēheu! taberna ardēbat!

caupō Syphācī vīnum dedit.  Syphax caupōnī ānulum trādidit.

caupō uxōrī ānulum dedit, quod ānulus eam dēlectāvit.

caupō, postquam ānulum accēpit, eum īnspexit.

fēmina ad tabernam rediit et marītum quaesīvit.

inimīcī, postquam ānulum cōnspexērunt, servum verberābant.

servus ānulum postulāvit. fēmina servō ānulum trādidit.

Then, ALL students take the  ONLINE PRACTICE QUIZ on these sentences. You may take the quiz as many times as you like. Your highest score will be recorded.  Questions on the ānulus Aegyptius story will be included on tomorrow’s Benchmark retake.

Job 2:  When you have finished the ānulus Aegyptius Practice Quiz, get the story CLC 11 SULLA from the substitute and INDIVIDUALLY  prepare a written translation to turn in. You may use the glossary in the book as well as the story helps to be found on page 185.

Job 3:  When you have finished the SULLA translation sheet, request  the CLC 11 Candidati Crossword Puzzle from the substitute.  When you have finished with the front side, do the verb form and vocabulary matching activity on the reverse. You may  use your book on these, if necessary.  Turn this sheet in to the substitute when you are finished with both sides.  Both should be done by Friday, January 11.
