Lydia: Share
the information on Block 10 that I messaged to you yesterday.
Regarding Box 8: subscribere testēs = to sign their signatures
as witnesses to (the correctness of) of
the account books (ratiōnibus; reckonings is still a word used for bookkeepers
today). Then the three citizens called
forward to be witnesses are named in the Dative because they are the persons
that the others are being ordered to make way for/yield to (cēdite + dat). You may translate just their
middle name, but be sure to use the nominative form.
Class work for today:
A) Make any necessary corrections to Salutatio 1 based
on the information above. Each of you,
on a lined piece of paper, answer
questions 7 and 8 on page 217. You MAY use the book and the finished
translation sheet; you MAY NOT confer
with others on your answers. Take no
more than 5-10 minutes to complete this work and then go on with Salutatio 2
which you will get from the teacher.
B) Salutatio
2: Each of you prepare four boxes from
boxes 1-20. Circle the ones you choose. All of you prepare box 21. Present your section of the story to the
group, explaining any grammar that you feel needs to be pointed out to the
others. Everyone get a finished copy of
the story written down. Turn in both Salutatio 1 and 2.
C) Passive
Paradigm Practice: Get the sheet from the teacher. It has been a week since you
worked with these forms. Are they still in your mind? Do as much as you can
from memory, then finish the rest by referring to your NOTES (not the book). Hold on to this sheet and put in some study
on what you have forgotten!
D) Finish and turn in the Vocab 31 and RCQ 31 City
of Rome and Roman Patronage Worksheets.
E) Use any
extra time to practice Vocab 29 and 30 for the test on Tuesday, Dec 11. Use the
links posted to the blog on Tuesday, Dec
4.
