A 500 word essay on Roman Gladiatorial Weapons citing specific information from
your reading and viewing of the above items.
For all of you who have asked for more information on the essay assignment:
You are to look at all
of the links in the blog assignment and think about what you are seeing and
reading. You are to combine information from all of the items and write a 5 paragraph essay that includes an introductory paragraph stating the topic of
your paper, at least three paragraphs supporting your topic by citing
(mentioning, recalling, referencing) things from the various links which apply
to the point that you are making in that particular paragraph, and a concluding
paragraph that summarizes what your paper was about and the facts which you
used to prove your point.
You are welcome to reference other material we have read in class (culture essays, stories we have translated, videos we have seen) or used online (essays and articles we have read) and draw comparisons between those things and the specific material assigned for this essay, or you may contrast the items you are seeing in the assigned material with similar or different items, practices, or applications in modern society.
In other words, you are using the assigned material as a STARTING point for a thinking process that will end in the results of your thinking expressed as a written essay that shares your thoughts with me and others in the class. A simple listing of weapons DOES NOT qualify as an essay; that is merely organizing material without adding any thought process. Your essay should function on level 2 or higher of the critical thinking skills chart available here.
